Alright, two weeks. Haven't done much and the few topics I could write more about are something I'll save up for their own specific posts later, like for example my opinions on a few movies I've watched just recently.
I had a bit of trouble focusing on anything last weeks and jumped from game to game. I played Black & White, which is still broken and overrated, I played Minecraft and just couldn't focus on building anything, I played Hitman 2 again and it STILL continues to just outright piss me off whenever I try playing it, and I also gave Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive a chance but it just annoys me now because it's the game that almost got my YouTube channel deleted and why I can't upload videos longer than 15 minutes. And people try to tell me I'd be safe uploading older games.
I did eventually manage to settle down with Splinter Cell Chaos Theory for PC and finally get around finishing it. It was a bit of a disappointment, because I was expecting the last levels to be slightly different from the PS2 version but they ended up being almost identical if we don't count the fact that PS2 has loading screens at certain points of the levels. I wasn't expecting a whole new game, just different enough to provide an interesting comparison, but most of it is really exactly the same. This might sound contradictory after the previous statement, but I also found that apart from the loading screens I do almost prefer the PS2 version over the PC version in terms of gameplay. Believe it or not, there are certain places in the PS2 version where the ways you can avoid the enemies in the levels seem better designed. I don't mean stuff like the amount of enemies in an area or larger differences like entire rooms being completely different, just small stuff like placements of lightsources and their luminance, and a couple of placements of cover, pipes or zip wires.
I said I only almost prefer the PS2 version, because in the end Chaos Theory is still the best Splinter Cell game ever despite the platform, the differences between the versions aren't huge or anything and the PC version has a few nice things the PS2 version doesn't, especially if we start talking about graphics.
This week I've spent watching Awesome Video Games (the entire Monday) and then Video Games Awesome (the entire yesterday), so at least the last two days have been time well spent. I recommend you also check out and subscribe to http://www.youtube.com/farfromsubtle if you haven't already.
Now I must stop writing this and go cry and tremble in fear regarding my two year break from the army coming to a questionable end and a certain other little thing that recently popped up that I might write about someday once I have a clearer idea of what to talk about exactly. Nothing serious, just stuff I personally find incredibly frightening. The next two months are going to be awful if you ask me.

The next two months are gonna be brutal for me too, I'm gonna be writing finals very shortly...ugh...back to studying I suppose...
ReplyDeleteStudying for finals sounds horrible. I wouldn't know from personal experience, though, because due to my lazy ass I've actually never properly prepared for any exams.
ReplyDeleteSome are worse than others, some will require little to no preparation, others pretty much required I start preparing last month. But after those exams I'm free for 4 months to just do stupid bullshit...I love doing stupid bullshit, its my favorite kind of bullshit!

Oh, by the way, I know Finland has an obligatory military service of 6 months for armed and 9 months for unarmed. Are you choosing to go back?

I'll have to go back if the people who evaluate my condition decide I must go. Don't think I'll stay for long in any case, though, because I'm in an even crappier physical health now than I was two years ago.
ReplyDeleteI did just recently get a letter informing me that the date I have to go handle the army business has been pushed back by a month so I have more free time than I previously thought.
That kinda sucks! And by kinda I mean really! I don't like hearing that you're not in great physical health either.
ReplyDeleteCan't the army just understand that your contribution to the world is awesomely video gaming. People like us need to be more appreciated!
